In 1928, Gabrielle Chanel built La Pausa, a villa in the heights of Roquebrune, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Imagined and decorated entirely by Mademoiselle, it featured architecture reminiscent of that at Aubazine Abbey, where she lived as a child.
